Preparions Begin for Band’s Florida Trip

This coming fall, November to be exact, the Pride of Paoli Marching Band, and their guests, have big plans.

The Pride of Paoli will be traveling to Florida as their yearly trip. The Pride of Paoli has also been to New York City and Italy in the previous years.

Any marching band student and their family are eligible to go. Students and their families will have the opportunity to see many places including; Cocoa Beach, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Epcot, the Hard Rock Café, Disney’s Performing Arts on Stage and The Rainforest Café. The Pride of Paoli will also be performing in a parade. But to go on such a trip must have a price and it does. A total of $850 to be specific.

The original price for one student to attend the Florida trip is $850. But, this can be reduced easily.

Band Boosters will automatically give a student planning to attend $200. Fundraising is also going to be an important part. Trash bag sales, a golf scramble, road blocks, car washes, bake sales (all during the band camp time on July 24), a dinner and silent auction, “Rent–a–student” and any other possible options for fundraising will contribute to helping students pay for the trip.

With plenty of fundraising, a student can easily knock out $200 to $300. This means the student has around $450 left to pay, not as scary sounding as $850.

Band director Bill Laughlin is in charge of deciding where the band will be traveling. Considering he made the choice of the band going to New York City last year, he decided to let the other parents and band staff choose.

“I’m excited. We will be performing in a parade and a workshop with professional musicians,” said Laughlin.

Fundraising, monthly payments and additional payments are all students have to do to reach their personal goal of $850. Anyone with questions on the band trip should speak with Laughlin or Chad Brinkman.
