September 21 through 25 is College Go Week for all Indiana schools. During this week, many colleges waive their application fees to encourage students to apply. College Advisor Mary Lechner and Guidance Counselor Danny Johnson are preparing for some activities to engage students at PHS. Every day on the announcements this week, they will be asking a trivia question about an Indiana College. Whoever emails Johnson with the correct answer first, will receive a prize. In addition, any senior who has submitted a college application by the end of the week will be entered in a drawing for some prizes the students will be able to use in college. These prizes include a Keurig, Amazon Alexa, dorm room LED light decorations, noise cancelling headphones, and a mini fridge.
Lechner and Johnson hope this activity will encourage students to explore different colleges for their education opportunities.
“The purpose of College Go Week is to bring awareness of the opportunities college presents, and all of the options students have when choosing a college that is the right fit for them,” said Lechner.
If anyone needs to talk to Lechner about colleges or applications, email her at any time to set up an appointment.
