Mr. PHS to be Held March 17
March 9, 2020
With Prom approaching quickly, the annual Prom fundraiser, Mr. PHS, is just right around the corner.
“It is a talent show/pageant in which PHS senior boys compete in judged competition for the title of Mr. PHS for that year,” said Prom coordinator Chris Jones.
Each contestant is sponsored by an organization, such as National Honor Society or Drama Club, who pays a $100 registration fee. The contestant also has a coordinator, a senior girl in a related organization, assigned to them to help with organization and preparation for the four category event.
“Traditionally we have had four categories of competition. These are: the onstage question, fitness and dance, talent and evening wear. Our judges rate each participant per category and the highest score is chosen as Mr. PHS. The winner of the competition is awarded a cash prize as well as a pair of sunglasses that are graciously donated by Drs. Harmon, Petty and Cole. A “People’s Choice” winner is also chosen by cash votes at the door,” said Jones.
By hosting this event, $2,000 to $3,000 are raised to fund the Junior/Senior Prom.
Mr. PHS will be held on Tuesday, March 17 at 6 p.m. in the Uyesugi Auditorium.
