The junior high wrestling team had their first meet of the season on Thursday, February 9.

“Although we are young we performed well for our first meet of the year, but there’s still a lot of room for improvement. We are going to get a lot better as we go,” said Coach JD Emerick.

Even if the season is over for the Varsity team, some high school wrestlers are still helping during the practices

“It makes me so happy to see young kids interested in wrestling. We are really focused on building the program and these guys are the first step in a well established team for Paoli,” said senior Adin Monroe.

Fifteen wrestlers showed up for the team this year, the “veterans” of the sport are seventh grader Jordan Albertson who has been wrestling for three years and seventh grader Damien Edwards who has been wrestling for three years and are leading the team.

“The team is doing good, and it’s improving everyday. I feel like me and the team are going to have a good season.” says Albertson.

“The junior high practices are going good so far. There are a lot of new wrestlers and they are learning a lot,” said sophomore Jonathan Shellenberger.

The next meet for the team is against Washington Middle School on February 16 at home.
