The Boys Basketball team will travel to North Knox High School to take on the Linton-Stockton Miners in the first round of Sectional tonight at 7:30 p.m.

The Rams are 17-5 and are currently second in PLAC.

The Sectional bracket includes Sullivan, Eastern Greene, South Knox, North Knox, Mitchell, Paoli and Linton-Stockton.

Head Coach Dusty Cole feels good about where his team stands headed into tonight’s game.

“We feel good about where we are as a team. We are playing our best basketball of the season. We have won five in a row and nine of our last 10. Throughout the season we had a couple of injuries and that has actually helped us develop some more depth,” said Cole.

The roster for the Rams includes seniors Brandon Cook, Isaac Cornett-McBride, juniors Andrew Kumpf, Trey Rominger, Willson Windhorst, sophomores Fletcher Cole, Jeremiah Hutcheson, Jaxson Reynolds, freshmen Treighlin Minton, Dane Padgett, Cooper Spires and Chad Sullivan.

Although the team has faced injuries this season, these were only minor setbacks.

“We have had a really successful season. A lot of outsiders probably thought we would win 12-14 games this season. We have been playing three freshmen a lot of minutes and two of those kids have started for us about half the season. We have overcome some adversity with injuries and we continue to get better every day. We did come up short of winning a conference championship, but an 18 win regular season is something we should be proud of,” said Cole.

“We have done a lot to prepare ourselves for these types of situations. They should not forget all of the work they have put in. We have spent lots of time lifting, conditioning, speed training, practicing, working on fundamentals. All of those things have prepared us for what lies ahead. Also, we must remember, it doesn’t matter who the best players are on the court. It matters who has the best TEAM. It is going to take a solid TEAM effort to accomplish our goals.

Stay confident.  Play with some swagger!” said Cole.

Game 1 of Sectional was played on Wednesday, March 1, with South Knox defeating Sullivan with a score of 47-35. South Knox will now face Eastern Greene on Friday.
