Softball Brings Home Win Against Clarksville

The Lady Rams will face off against the Mitchell Bluejackets at home starting at 5 p.m.

On Tuesday, April 4, the Lady Rams Softball team traveled to Clarksville to face the Lady Generals. The Lady Rams won 21-6.

Head Coach Neil Dittmer was excited to get his first win of the season.

“It is always good to get a win,” said Dittmer.

There were many key players needed for this win.

“We had contributions up and down the lineup offensively and defensively,” said Dittmer.

The Lady Rams had 12 RBI’s and a total of eight hits.

Leading with three runs were seniors Jackie Crews, River Fleming, Kenzie Gilliatt, and junior Nadia Garcia.

Leading in steals this game was Crews with three stolen bases, with fellow senior Olivia Nale following with two stolen bases.

I feel like the win against Clarksville built our confidence for the start of the season. During the game our team showed great potential and I am very excited to see where the season goes,” said Nale.

Senior Ashleigh Garcia had six strike-outs and had only three walks.

Garcia shares what goes through her mind when on the mound.

“Anytime I step on the mound, I always think about the girls behind me. When I pitch, I pitch hard for these girls. I work hard and they work hard,” said Garcia.

The Rams have been preparing for their next big game.

“We prepare for each game the same, it starts with us playing solid defense, and being ready to attack when we get good pitches on offense,” said Dittmer.
