This school year, the school welcomed a new Agriculture Teacher and FFA Sponsor Samatha Goen.
Goen took over after Kyle Woolston resigned at the end of last year for a different job opportunity. Goen has always been involved in FFA and agriculture since she was in high school. Goen graduated from the Liberty University of Virginia with her bachelor’s degree in Education and has taught for two years.
Goen has big plans and hopes for the school’s greenhouse. She hopes to get students more involved in agriculture and not just have students taking Ag classes to get the grade and science credits, but have the students taking the Ag classes to be more involved in a great program.
“I am looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish with the greenhouse this year. In the near future, we are going to start growing many different herbs and vegetables. I am also looking into growing strawberries,” said Goen
The agriculture classes are currently working on getting ideas for the greenhouse and what to plant.
