This year, the volleyball team started their season with nine seniors leading the way. Leading the team includes Gracie Brown, Faith Gammon, Nadia Garcia, Carley Higgins, Ella Spires, Lily Stroud, Abby Tapp, Devon Walton and Stella Windhorst.
These girls have played together for many years and have all been pretty close with one another. The group started when they were young and have played since then. They have learned and have worked hard for the spot they have on the team today.
“This season I feel we have a lot more potential. We have many returning varsity players and we have nine seniors. Already this season, we have a better record than last year and we won the Henryville Round Robin to start our season. I think our team is much more positive this year, and we have great chemistry on the floor, which cannot be said for past years,” said Senior Lily Stroud.
Coach Audrey Miller is in her first season with the Rams and feels this group of seniors has some of the best leadership and determination that has come through PHS in a while.
“Coaching nine seniors has been very enjoyable. They are all very respectful. With there being such a short age gap between myself and the seniors I was worried, but all of them have been such a huge help in making me feel comfortable and helping the season run smoothly,” said Miller.
The volleyball team’s next conference game is today against Perry Central. The team will celebrate the seniors at the end of the season on Tuesday, October 3. To end the season, the team will travel to Henryville Jr Sr High School for sectionals during the week of October 14.
