The Rams’ all-time rushing leader, senior Trey Rominger, has been running up the stats on his school record this season. Last Friday night against the Perry Central Commodores, Rominger surpassed the 5,000-yard mark for his career, which no other Ram has ever come close to. With only four games into the season, Rominger has already added 680 yards to his record this year alone.
In the opening game of the season against Boonville, Rominger had 136 yards. Against Corydon, he added 115 yards. In the Orange Bowl, he added 234 yards to his total. Then, in the matchup against the Commodores, he added 192 yards.
Rominger broke the all-time rushing record a year prior against the Commodores. Each season, Rominger has rushed for over 1,000 yards, last year being the most. He was just short of 2,000 as he rushed for 1,900. Rominger hopes to surpass the 2,000-yard mark this season.
“It feels great to have accomplished this. I just want to keep adding to my records. My family and my team are always motivating me to keep accomplishing more of my goals. I like knowing that I’m becoming a part of Paoli Football history by breaking records, ” said Rominger.
Head Football Coach Neil Deitmer is very proud of Rominger and his accomplishments.
“He is one of our hardest workers and a special talent on and off the field. You can see all of his hard work paying off every time he steps on the field,” said Dittmer.
Offense Coach Brian Wilson also praised Rominger.
“I’m very proud of his efforts he does all the little things very well. Trey is a great example of a humble and hungry player,” said Wilson.
Tonight, the Rams take on the West Washington Senators. Rominger plans to add to his total yard mark for his career. With five games still left in the regular season, and still post-season to play, Rominger will only continue to add to his record.
