If you were a fan of the Varsity Football team in the fall of 2021, you likely knew senior Carson Little, finishing a four-year run with the Rams. Little played both sides of the ball as a player, most importantly quarterback and outside linebacker.
Little always loved football, and it was his favorite sport.
After high school, he decided to become a coach and is at the end of his first season coaching the junior high football team.
“If you can’t play, might as well coach to stay connected to the game that I had a lot of fun with,” said Little. “Coaching has been a lot of fun for me this year, I have built a good connection with the kids, and I’m glad to see that the kids have improved over the course of the season.”
Little says the biggest lesson he has learned this season as a coach is more about communication than football.
“Being patient, especially when kids don’t want to listen, and mess around has been a good lesson,” said Little.
Little has spent the season building the team’s knowledge of offense and defense, setting them up for play at the high school level down the road.
“Attitudes and efforts go a long way. I hope the players realized the level of preparation and how you have to go full speed every snap if you want a chance to win,” said Little.
Little’s efforts this season have not gone unnoticed by the coaching staff, including his former coach, Neil Dittmer.
“Carson has done a great job. He has a passion for the game of football and to help student-athletes. His energy and enthusiasm are infectious, and I have no doubt he will continue to grow and improve as a coach for our program,” said Varsity Coach Neil Dittmer.
