On Tuesday, October 24, several students taking a veterinary class with Agricultural Teacher Cory Scott spent the day touring the Purdue University Veterinary Hospitals.
Sophomore Charli Chastain, juniors Keeley Scott, Chloe Smith and Lilly Hall, and seniors Carley Higgins and TyLynn Taylor attended the trip. During their visit, the students learned about admissions into the veterinary school and visited former PHS veterinary students from the Class of 2021, Jalyn Engleking and Chloe Thacker.
Throughout their tour, the students visited the large animal, small animal, and equine hospitals. They also walked through the Co-Rec and visited the campus as a whole.
“I think they got a good look at what Vet School will look like if they continue down this educational and career pathway. It’s hard to point to one thing that was most interesting because there were several. I enjoyed meeting up with former Paoli students who were at Purdue and visited and talked with the kids on the tour. I think Chloe did an excellent job sharing what she is doing in Vet Nursing at Purdue and what her journey has been like. I also think seeing the behind-the-scenes of a veterinary hospital of that magnitude was very impactful,” said Scott.
If these students plan to further their education in the Veterinary pathway, they now have toured a college they may attend. Any students interested in taking agricultural-related field trips, they may go to Scott or agricultural teacher Samantha Goen for more information.
