This school year marks the seventh annual ceiling tiles project run by the PHS Art Department. Staff, high school, and junior high teachers were invited to purchase a painting to be put on ceiling tiles in their room.
“This is the seventh year we’ve painted ceiling tiles for teachers and it’s as popular now as it was when we started. I hope the teachers continue to enjoy it and keep supporting it. It’s generated a few thousand extra dollars for the art department over the years,” said Jones.
After all of the staff who want a painting done is final, Art teacher Chris Jones shows the art students the list of the staff to the art students who decide who they would like to work with. Staff and teachers can also request students if they have a preference. This project is one of the biggest fundraisers for the Art Department. The money raised from this fundraiser will go to the department’s “Creative Arts” account. This account is saved for paint and other supplies needed along with the extras for the art room.
