Senior Trey Rominger finished his football career as one of the most decorated players in Ram history.
Rominger’s high school football career kicked off during the Orange Bowl game versus Springs Valley. During that game, he was a big spark for the Rams on the offensive side of the ball, resulting in a big touchdown late. The freshman was a big reason why the Rams brought home the win.
“It feels very accomplishing and I’m glad we kept the trophy through my high school years,” said Rominger.
In his career, Rominger scored 596 points for the Rams, and holds the scoring record, rushing, rushing touchdowns, rushing single game, rushing season, rushing conference game, and conference season.
In addition to scoring points, Rominger played a big role in moving the ball on the field. His freshman year he rushed for a total of 1,153 yards, and each year improved his total by rushing for 1,465 yards his sophomore year, 1,936 yards his junior year, and finished with an impressive 2,375 yards his senior year. In his career he rushed for a total of 6,929, averaging 9.4 yards a carry and averaging 197.9 yards per game. He set a new school record and now holds second place in the state for rushing yards this season. He is also ranked 57th nationally for rushing according to MaxPreps.
According to the IHSAA, Rominger also is a top 25 all-time rusher for the state.
“I hope it will set goals for some of the future players to try to break my records,” said Rominger.
Football Coach Neil Dittmer also thinks highly of Rominger.
“Trey is going to go down as one of the best players to ever play for Paoli football, his records last for a long time. It’s been a privilege to coach a kid who goes to work every day, I’ve never had any issues with him showing up or going his hardest, when one of your best players is your hardest worker it makes it easy for you,” said Dittmer.
