The PHS Library celebrated the end of first semester with a prize give-away based on student sign-ins throughout the semester. Senior Kholson Gilliland suggested the awards to Librarian Rachel Miller, who requires students have a written pass each time they enter the library. Miller used the sign-in records to determine who visited the library the most and chose random winners from the sign-in records. Miller gave away prizes for four days. Each day there were two intentional winners from the list of students with the most visits and four random winners.
The random winners selected were seniors Ariana Cavazos, Kayson Simpson, Kenzie Peters, Luke Oldham, Quinton Stidams, and Taiden England; juniors Jareth Nunez, Arah Brinkman, Jericho Hopper, and Jerzie Crane, sophomores Shiann Dunn, Tori Patton, Lucas Shinkle, Dakota Levi; and freshmen Michael Mullens and Kyle Campbell.
Miller also give awards for specific achievements throughout the semester. The first visit of the month, the prize went to senior Kholson Gilliand. The most visits of the semester went to sophomore Brooklyn Weber. Tied for second most visits to the library went to senior Carina Gaona and junior Paige Flick. Tied for third place to the most visits to the library were senior Luke Baxter and junior Ryley Butler. The fourth most visited guest to the library went to senior Emma McKibbon and the fifth most visited went to sophomore Sirinity Anderson. Prizes included snack foods, fun toys, craft kits, and candy.
“PHS students have made the library the fun and inviting place it is, so I wanted to thank them for their patronage and support by having a little bit of fun at the end of the term,” said Miller.
The library will continue the sign-in process this semester, but students should watch their email and PHS News Today for library hours. The spring semester has a lot of testing so the library will be closed more than usual throughout March, April, and May.
