The Varsity Wrestling team will compete in Sectional 28 this Saturday, January 28. The Rams will travel to Southridge High School in the Memorial Gym. The meet will begin at 9 a.m. The team is headed to Sectional as PLAC Conference Champions, the first time the school has won the title since wrestling began at PHS.
The Rams will compete against many highly competitive programs, including: Floyd Central, Forest Park, Jasper, Mitchell, New Albany, North Knox, Paoli, Pike Central, Southridge, and Tell City. Junior Jonny Shellenberger is the 3rd seed for 157 lbs., and freshman Cohen Warren is the 6th seed for 132 lbs. Freshman Wyatt Brashear, sophomore Deegan Brashear, sophomore Kolt Bonta, sophomore Charlie Higgins, senior Larry Warren, senior Adam Barnhart, junior Ryley Butler, and freshman Colton Morgan are all unseeded for sectionals.
“We are going to be facing some good competition, but we have all worked hard this season, and it is make or break for the most of us, but we will see how things turn out on Saturday,” senior Larry Warren
The cost of admission for the meet is seven dollars and must be bought online using Eventlink.com. All Ram fans planning to attend must purchase tickets virtually before entry and have a smart device and an Internet connection to follow the self-validation process.
