You might’ve seen Kutter Springer walking around the eighth grade hallway, but you might not know he is an expert in the woods. Springer finds hunting to be a relaxing way to cope with everyday life.
Springer started hunting at age four and hunted for turkey, then advanced and moved on to deer. His dad got him started on hunting and even encourages him to this day. His dad bought him his first gun, and he would immediately go to target practice.
“I would sit and watch my dad as he would get ready to go out to the woods and I just knew I wanted to hunt just like him,” said Springer.
Now that Springer is older, his hunting skills have advanced. Springer simply has his strategies and techniques down.
“Since I was younger I have advanced my shooting skills. I now know the best spots to hunt are and the exact time of day. I know the necessities to keep in my bag and exactly what to do,” said Springer.
Springer hunts on his family’s property and land. He has seen and killed many big deer here. Last year, Springer shot a twelve-point buck and hopes to get many more in the future. Springer sometimes finds it difficult to spot deer, but he has some good advice.
“I think you really just need to go out there with the intention of killing one. Really just imagine you shooting and imagine the victory drag back,” said Springer.
In the future, Kutter plans to go on a trip to Alaska, allowing him to hunt in a new environment and succeed in his goals in life.
