On Tuesday, February 13, the Varsity Boys Basketball team traveled to Scottsburg to face the No.4 ranked in 3a Warriors. The Rams lost 42-58 against
the Warriors. Going into the half the Rams were down 16-31. Coming out of halftime the Rams tried to cut the lead but still couldn’t with being outscored 9-13. The Rams did come out in the fourth outscoring the Warriors 19-14.
Leading scorers for the Rams were senior Trey Rominger 10 points, senior Willson Windhorst and sophomore Chad Sullivan both had 9 points. The Warriors’ leading scorers were senior Kody Clancey 22 points and senior Wyatt Zellers 15 points.
The Rams then were scheduled to have a game on Friday, January 16, against Perry Central. However, due to bad weather, the Rams will host the game on Monday, January 19 to face the PLAC opponent.
On Saturday, February 17, the Rams faced off against Salem for a non-conference matchup. While the beginning of the game was close, the Rams pulled away winning 62-34.
Individually performing for the Rams were senior Trey Rominger with 27 points, junior Fletcher Cole with 13 points, and sophomore Chad Sullivan with 6. Saturday was not a regular game that night. The Rams held senior night and the basketball team congratulated seniors Trey Rominger, Jason Beavers, Willson Windhorst, and Andrew Kumpf on their contribution to the program. Each started in the Senior Night game.
Though he was not a leading scorer, one of the biggest cheers of the night came from a three-point shot in the fourth quarter from senior Jason Beavers.
“I mean for me it was like it was straight out of a movie. My first ever varsity start and I go out there and bang a three and the crowd goes wild, I couldn’t ask for anything better,” said Beavers.
The Rams are now 15-5 in the regular season and 3-1 in PLAC.
