The annual Spoon Tag game ended on Thursday, February 29, with senior Savannah Key defeating sophomore Tyler Hannon.
The High School Student Council sponsors the Spoon Tag competition to raise money for the Student Council fund. This fund helps pay for flowers, crowns and decorations for fall and winter Homecoming ceremonies and DJs when the group sponsors dances.
There were 115 competitors this year, and the game lasted four weeks.
The final two winners had different strategies to win the game.
Tyler’s strategy was to have his friends scout for his opponents.
“The best part about the game was getting people out of the game. The worst part was always having to be on the lookout for other people,” said Hannon.
Savannah’s strategy had her walking different routes to class each day.
“The worst part is everyone’s little friends snitching and the best part was watching one of the Poe boys get Tim (Husemeyer) out,” said Key.
On the final day, Key waited outside Hannon’s class and tagged him after 3rd period. As the winner, Key will receive an Amazon gift card.
“We think that the game went okay this time around. We hope more students and teachers play next time we put it on. Everyone needs to remember that it is just a game, and we do it for fun, and to raise money. We would like to have two Spoon Tag competitions next year. One during the first semester and one during the second semester,” said Student Council Sponsor Miya Scott.
