On Thursday, March 28, The Lady Rams Softball hosted Borden and were defeated in their season opener, 1-14.
“We got to see what worked and what didn’t so that we can correct the errors we made for the next game,” said Senior Catcher Savannah Key.
The Lady Rams will travel to Northeast Dubois on Monday, April 1.
Also, on Thursday, the Paoli Varsity Track team hosted its opening meet against PLAC opponent Perry Central. The Boys’ and Girls’ track teams both lost to the Commodores. The Rams’ first-place finishes were in the 400 relays, high jump junior William Baker, shot junior Isaiah Apple, girls’ 3200 relay, and long jump senior Carley Higgins. The Rams will face the Borden Braves on Tuesday, April 2, away, starting at 5 p.m.
On Saturday, The Rams baseball team hosted their season opener against North Knox, starting at 11 a.m. Though a tough game, the Rams lost 9-5 after seven innings. Behind the plate, the game was rough, with five total hits spread between four players on the day. The leaders were sophomore Tyler Hannon, who went two for three; senior Trey Rominger, who went one for four; and junior Peyton Baker, who went one for three.
“Today was tough loss at home on opening day. Trey Rominger, Tyler Hannon and Cooper Spires pitched well today. We had six errors today behind them which isn’t going to help us win any games. Our bats were a little slow in some sections of the lineup but we feel we had some positives there as well. For the first game we hope to see improvement every day and the opportunity to have a great season. Our schedule isn’t real easy but we should be competitive all season as long as we shore up the errors and creat opportunities to score,” said Head Coach Jeremy Payton.
The Rams will next face the Shoals Jug Rox on Tuesday, April 2.
On Saturday, April 30, the Varsity Rams Golf team traveled to Springs Valley for a 16-team invitational. The Rams finished in tenth place with a total score of 403.
“We still have a lot of work to do, but we still have made a lot of progress,” said junior Brian Fullington.
Next for the Varsity Golf team is Tuesday, April 2, at home against West Washington.
