Plant and soil sciences classes will host the Spring Plant Sale in the Greenhouse starting in May.
This plant sale will offer a variety of plants, including Red Cherry and Roma Tomatoes, Palolano, Jalapeno and Cayenne Peppers, Keystone Giant Sweet Bell Peppers, Sweet Corn, Crimson Sweet Watermelon, Sugar Snap Peas, Zucchini, Mint, Cilantro and Rosemary.
“The students have been working on growing flowers and vegetable starts since late February. The learning goal is that students will learn how to maintain a greenhouse. Students are learning how to grow their own produce and will hopefully be able to take these skills home to be able to grow produce at home,” said Plant and Soil Science teacher Samantha Goen.
One student who has been heavily involved in the sale is sophomore Billy Bob Apple.
“One of the biggest things I have learned was that plants need a ton of care, and I mean a ton. You have to really watch them and make sure nothing is going on with each plant that could cause them to die. That means coming in on weekends and during breaks to watch them ad keep records of them,” said Apple.
Packs of 6 plants will cost $4, and to get singular plants it will cost .50 cents each. This sale will be cash only and will take place on May 6-7.
