PHS MORP took place this year May 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the PHS cafeteria. This year’s theme was “The Grande Masquerade.”
For the past 18 years Tammy Noble has been in charge of decorating for the dance, however, with her retirement, this responsibility has been handed over to the new Junior High Student Council sponsor, Mariah Buchanan.
“Communicating to the Student Council members and getting all students to participate while I was taking care of my baby was
a challenge. It was difficult to plan how I would be at school to set up the day of,” said Buchanan.
Buchanan also had struggles with getting students to participate digitally.
“I communicated to the Student Council members through Google Classroom. However, not all students participated in the planning efforts. Planning is much easier to do in person,” said Buchanan.
Other junior high teachers helped Buchanan to lower the amount of stress and pressure she experienced.
“We have Morp to give our junior high students a dance experience with their friends. Many students don’t get to have experiences with their friends outside of school. Morp gives our students a memorable experience. It is also special for our eighth grade students. Morp signifies a transition between junior high and high school,” said Buchanan.
