Last spring, school librarian Rachel Miller found out that this fall, she would be teaching junior high English after the retirement of former English teacher Loretta Brown. Since school began, Miller has been in the library for her first four class periods. In the afternoon, she teaches junior high English for fifth, sixth, and seventh period. In addition to splitting her time, Miller is also the testing coordinator for the school, organizing the PSAT, SAT, ILEARN, and others.
This year has been challenging for Miller, but she’s taking it step-by-step and getting everything together.
“It has been different. I am learning new things,” said Miller.
Miller’s schedule has changed many times, including last year. Before serving as the librarian, Miller was the freshman English teacher and has been adjusting to her new grade level. Another change for Miller and PHS students has been the library hours; she is no longer open during the afternoon when teaching her new English classes.
