The Drama Club will soon present its newest production: a stage adaptation of the 1990s Disney animated film, “The Little Mermaid.” The play will be held in the Uyesugi Auditorium from Thursday, September 19, through Saturday, September 21. The musical will start at 7 p.m. each night; admission is $5 per person.
The version the club will perform is similar to the original, with a couple more songs featuring King Triton and Prince Eric.
The main characters in the show are senior Mary Cook, who plays Ariel; junior Cannon Lambdin, who plays Prince Eric; and freshman Emily Lindsey, who plays Ursula.
“The Little Mermaid is a banger show. It has been a challenge to learn lines amid band season, but I can tell this is a special show,” said Lambdin
There will be interactive features with the audience, where, according to Drama Director Maria Wishart, “the audience can hum along.”
The cast has also added members of the Pride of Paoli guard for big musical numbers and a few young performers from Throop to fill the stage.
“We like to start shows with some pre-show activities like trivia, Kahoots, or maybe Disney song karaoke, but that will depend on what we get around to organizing. Musicals have much more to figure out than a show without songs and dances. Every minute of rehearsal is packed,” said Wishart.
Don’t miss your chance to see the show this week starting Thursday.
