A new addition has been made to the Guidance staff this school year, with Aiden Minton becoming the College Advisor for all high school students.
Minton works through IU Bloomington and the College Advising Core nationally. This program helps bring recent college graduates to local schools across the U.S. This year, he decided to come to Paoli.
Minton works with both Paoli and Crawford. On Mondays and Wednesdays, he works at Crawford, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays, he works at Paoli.
Minton ensures students have access to higher education when it comes to college applications, scholarships, and understanding the processes of trade schools and careers after high school. This can include trade jobs, employment, military enlistment, and all things after high school.
“This job really is great in that it helps students who do not have the support from other aspects,” said Minton.
Minton attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a degree in agribusiness. However, he quickly realized that he did not want to pursue a career in agribusiness and decided to work in education. He discovered his current job and realized that this was precisely what he wanted to do. Minton now has his Master’s Degree in International and Comparative Education.
In the future, Minton hopes to provide ongoing graduates with the support and help they need to find careers after high school.
“My job provides both teachers and students the help they need to pursue and facilitate the higher education process,” said Minton.
