This year marks another election year, and candidates are running for seats at all levels.
This year’s election will take place on Tuesday, November 5, and will be held to determine the political positions of all the governing offices in Indiana, as well as in the national government. This includes positions like state governor, state members of the Senate and House of Representatives, and other state executive positions, as well as national positions such as seats in Congress, Vice President, and the most notable position, President of the United States.
There has been heavy build-up for this election in particular, as the tensions between the Democratic and Republican candidates have been building since former Republican President Donald Trump lost the 2020 Presidential election to the current President Joe Biden. The former President has been insistent on rerunning again in 2024 since his loss, with his campaign’s promise following up the well-known “Make America Great Again,” and becoming the new “Take America Back.” Donald Trump’s running mate for Vice President this year is JD Vance.
Running against Trump is current Vice President Kamala Harris, who became the Democratic candidate after current President Joe Biden stepped down on July 21. Tim Walz will run alongside Harris for the Vice President position.
In Indiana, voters will be deciding some statewide positions. Ballots for the state will include many higher offices, many with a large selection of candidates to vote on. For the Attorney General, candidates are Todd Rokita (Republican) and Destiny Wells (Democrat).
Running for Governor and Lt. Governor are running mates Mike Braun and Micah Beckwith (R), Jennifer G. McCormick and Terry Goodin (D), and Donald Rainwater and Tonya Hudson (Libertarian).
The US representatives from Indiana will also be a part of the ballot, including candidates Mark Messmer (R), Erik Hurt (D), and K. Richard Fitzlaff (L).
And lastly, for the state election, this vote will decide the Indiana Senator, with candidates Jim Banks (R), Valerie McCray (D), and Andrew Horning (L).
As for Orange County voters specifically, many local positions will be included in the ballot as well. Positions for the local election include County Commissioner for District 2, County Recorder, and County Treasurer.
The candidates for District 2 Commissioner are Steve Hopper (R) and Timothy Brown (D).
For County Recorder, the race is between Heather Henderson (R) and Rebecca A. Haley (D).
For those that are 18 years or older and looking to cast their ballots towards this year’s elections, voting registration can be completed online at

October 7.
