On Friday, November 1, the Rams’ football season came to an end after a loss in the second round of Sectionals to Brownstown, ending with a score of 48-25. The Rams made it to the second round after defeating Pekin in the first round on October 25.
“I thought we did a nice job overall in Sectionals, but just came up a bit short. I think we made a good performance,” said Head Football Coach Neil Dittmer.
The football team held an impressive 9-0 regular season record, as well as remaining undefeated throughout the PLAC conference.
“I think we had a great season overall. It’s difficult for a team to go undefeated and perform as well as we did in our conference, and become Orange Bowl champs on top of that,” said Dittmer.
Eight players were recognized this season for PLAC All-Conference: seniors William Baker, Coy Busick, Fletcher Cole, Ian Drake, Oscar Lewellyn, and Jaxson Reynolds, as well as juniors Tyler Hannon and Dane Padgett.
The Rams will be losing 13 seniors going into next season, and have already been discussing plans to improve the team coming off of such an impressive season.
“We have got to develop some more depth as a team, and need to stay in the weight room. Of course, we will miss our seniors, but we are still always focused on the future of the team,” said Dittmer.
