Tyler, The Creator is an American rapper recognized for his music and collaborations.
He has released several popular songs, including “See You Again” (feat. Kali Uchis), “EARFQUAKE,” “NEW MAGIC WAND,” and “After The Storm” (feat. Kali Uchis). Most of Tyler’s music falls within the genres of alternative hip-hop, neo-soul, West Coast hip-hop, jazz rap, hardcore hip-hop, and horrorcore.
This past year, in 2024, Tyler, The Creator, unveiled his highly anticipated new album, “CHROMAKOPIA.” This album showcases his unique musical style and artistic evolution, featuring a diverse blend of genres and compelling lyrics that reflect his personal experiences and creative vision.
The album is about the fear of adulthood and responsibilities. Tyler’s character, St. Chroma, deals with these fears and brings color back to life. This album has received many reviews, featuring hits and misses.
Throughout my listening experience, I have concluded that it is thoughtfully crafted, with meaningful concepts accompanying each song. The album showcases some truly exceptional music. The tracks resonate deeply with me, as they often reflect experiences and emotions I can relate to. Each song offers a unique perspective, making the listening experience engaging and personal. I highly recommend this album to anyone who appreciates hip-hop or enjoys an eclectic mix of sounds and styles that keeps evolving. One aspect I appreciate about this album is how Tyler, The Creator, acknowledges that he is older and has changed from the person he was at 20, as he now has responsibilities.
Although I enjoyed the album, there were aspects that I didn’t like. One major issue for me was the featured artists. The songs “Sticky” and “Like Him” would have been better as solo tracks or without specific collaborators.
On “Sticky,” the featured artists were Sexyy Red, Lil Wayne, and GloRilla. I found that their different musical styles didn’t flow well, resulting in a sound that felt poorly put together. However, I thought Sexyy Red performed well; her voice complemented the song and Tyler’s delivery. I prefer both GloRilla and Lil Wayne
