The 2024 general election was held on Tuesday, November 5. Residents voted for many different local and nonlocal nominees. In total, 65.33% of the eligible voters voted, meaning 8748 votes were cast in Orange County.
For President and Vice President, Republicans Trump and Vance were elected, with 75.09% of Orange Countyians voting for the Republican ticket.
Republican Jim Banks earned his spot as United States Senator, earning 73.83% of the Orange County vote; Republican Braun and Beckwith for Governor and Lieutenant Governor won 66.55% of the county’s vote, and Republican Todd Rokita earned 75.45% of the Orange County votes for Attorney General. US Representative Republican Mark Messmer was elected with 75.55% of the vote for District Eight.
In local Orange County offices, Shelley Hammack was elected as County Treasurer; Steve Hopper was elected as County Commissioner of District 2; and for County Council At-Large, Republicans Zachary Brown, George Edward Key, and Alan Waynick were elected.
Only one candidate ran for each of the following positions: Eric Koch was elected as State Senator of District 44, Stephen Bartels for State Representative 74, Elizabeth Jones for Clerk of the Circuit Court, Sandy Hill for County Auditor, Shelley Hammack for County Treasurer, Benjamin Farris for County Coroner, and Richard Dixon for County Commissioner of District 3.
Three races for the Paoli School Board were held, seating four members for the new Board. In District 1, Lora Sanders retained her seat, and Alex Whiteman joined her, representing that district. Sanders and Whiteman were the only two candidates in that race. In District 2, David Padgett defeated Craig Starr with 55.66% of the vote. In District 3, Joseph Kimmel Jr. defeated Christopher Mavronicles with 78.02% of the vote.
