PHS will host a Hat Day on Friday, January 24, for $1, with all the money going to Deputy Zac Andry, a local police officer who was shot in the line of duty on January 3. A table will be across from the cafe before school starts to turn in money on Friday morning. Students and staff can also pay in the front office.
Andry is still undergoing treatment for his injuries and is showing improvements.
On January 15, Darian Andry, Zac’s wife, posted a video on her Facebook account of Zac squeezing her hand with a message: “What a way to be woken up by, and I am definitely not mad about it. The most movement I’ve seen out of him in 12 days and he kept rubbing our wedding rings! God is so good, he is working his miracles every day.”
Ram Academy Instructor Shanna Robbins organized this fundraiser for the Andry family.
“I wanted to show our support for the Andry family as they go through this difficult time,” said Robbins.
Andry’s niece, sophomore Emilee Burton, is grateful for the school and community’s efforts to support her uncle.
“My family is grateful that our community is so giving. We truly appreciate all the love and support that everyone has given since this happened,” said Burton.
In addition to the Hat Day funds, a donation bucket will be set up in the office all this week to collect donations for the Andry family.
