On February 19, 2025, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana, Throop Elementary art teacher Paul Ebert passed away.
The visitation was on Wednesday, February 26 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Becher & Kluesner Funeral Home in Jasper. The Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, February 27 at 10 a.m. at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois.
Ebert was born on October 1, 1973, in Dubois, Indiana and his parents were Charles and Carol (Pieper) Ebert. Ebert was 51 when he passed and worked a total of 25 years at Throop.
During his time at Throop, Ebert connected with his students, colleagues, and school.
“Mr. Ebert made a lasting impact on everyone who’s ever been at Throop Elementary. The students were always eager to go to his class and most wished that they could have art every day of the week! They loved all of his fun projects and his use of Class Dojo to reward them. The students were all passionate about art because he motivated them. He always went above and beyond, putting on amazing art shows each year,” said second grade teacher Danielle Kendall.
Ebert was more than a colleague or teacher to everyone at Throop, he was a friend.
“He was always a practical joker, playing tricks on everyone. I always had to keep a close eye on my bulletin board because random things would mysteriously get stapled onto it and I always knew who the culprit was. Anytime he was around, you could guarantee that students and teachers would be laughing. He was such a positive, uplifting person and a friend to all. Mr. Ebert made our school a fun place to be,” said Kendall.
Ebert’s kindness was unlike most, and will forever be remembered by his colleagues.
“Mr. Ebert had a significant impact on staff, students, and families. He was such a kind person who would help anyone. He loved teaching students about the different genres of art and seeing their creativity blossom. He was a true, honest, and hardworking educator,” said Throop Principal Stephany Carr.
