JAG students had their annual Career Development Conference (CDC) on February 7 at the French Lick Resort.
The CDC is held each year for students to participate in competitions highlighting the employability skills they have learned from the JAG program. Twelve students from PHS attended the CDC field trip along with JAG Specialist, Katie Cook.
JAG students competed in contests at the conference and earned various awards and a honorable mention.
Juniors Jaxton Deaton, Colton Baechle, and David Evans participated and won first place in the Chapter Commercial contest.
Seniors Addison Evans, Connor Bowman and Lucas Moran won first in the Creative Decision Making Category.
Seniors Samuel Bullington, Hayden Bostock, and Matthew Tedrow competed in the Business Plan category and received second place.
Taking home third place awards were Seniors Ava Green and Arah Brinkman for the Chapter Brochure competition, Junior Jaxton Deaton for Financial Literacy, and Senior Ava Green and Juniors Amber Pennington and Colton Beachle for the Project-Based Learning Category.
Other awards include Senior Trinity Gyger being nominated for Outstanding Senior and earning an honorable mention.
The first place winners competed in the State Contest on March 14 in Indianapolis however, they did not place.
“I feel like making it to the State CDC is winning in itself. We work and prepare for this competition for months, so even to qualify and get to compete at the state level is awesome. The experience and confidence they gained from it will stay with them forever. I am proud of them,” said Cook.
