The Lady Rams spring sports are underway, including tennis, softball, and track.
The tennis team went (8-8) last season and hopes to keep last year’s success into the new season.
“We have had preseason conditioning and open courts that have allowed us some time to prepare on and off the court,” said Coach Tyla Whitfield.
Five seniors graduated last year and now have zero seniors for the upcoming season.
“Our goals for this year would be to have a winning record and perform well at our Invitational and Sectionals,” said Whitfield.
Scores were unavailable at press time for the team’s first match on Monday, April 7, at Christian Academy.
The softball team is hoping to rebound from a tough season last year, when it went 0-16. Four seniors graduated, and now there are six seniors leading the team: Avery Crews, Haylie Gilliatt, Taylor Patton, Keeley Scott, Chloe Smith, and Jae Walker.
“Our goals are to improve throughout the season, and put ourselves in the conversation for the Conference championship and Sectional,” said Softball Coach Neil Dittmer.
The first game at Borden on Thursday, April 3 was rained out in the third inning and last weekend’s tourney was also rained out.
The Lady Rams track team won four meets last year and graduated four seniors. This season, just one senior, Jericho Hopper, is leading the team.
“Our goals for this season are to improve throughout the season and be competitive at the meets,” said Hudelson.
The team’s first meet on Thursday, April 3, at Perry Central, was also rained out.
