The PHS Athletic Department will again host the annual Free Physical for any student needing one for extracurricular activities. This year, instead of being held in the summer at the local clinic, the free physicals will be offered on the PHS campus on Thursday, May 15. The event is a continued partnership with Southern Indiana Community Healthcare Foundation to provide all interested students free physicals for the 2025-26 school year.
Any student who plans to participate in sports must have a physical on file with the athletic department. Starting this school year, all students participating in the marching band must also have a physical on file.
“We are trying to help students and parents by having this take place at school. By moving it from the summer, parents will not have to bring their kids to school during the summer. Also, we think that having the physicals here at school, more students will take advantage of this free service,” said Athletic Director Darek Newkirk.
To make the event go as smoothly as possible, a schedule for receiving free physicals on May 15 will be as follows:
- 12 to 1 p.m., students in grades 9-11
- 1 to 2 p.m., students in grades 4-6. These students will be walked up to the high school from Throop for the physical
- 2 to 3 p.m., students in grades 7 and 8.
- 2:45 to 4 p.m., any student who could not attend a previous time slot.
To be eligible for the free physical, students and parents or guardians must complete and sign up for the Final Forms platform before the event. Information about signing up for Final Forms has been sent to all students through their email. Parents and guardians should visit https://paoli-in.finalforms.com to register their student for this event. If a physical form is not correctly completed before scheduling a visit, the staff will not be permitted to complete the physical examination.
Parents and guardians of student athletes are asked to email Athletic Director Darek Newkirk at [email protected] with the name and current grade of any student(s) who wish to participate in the event.
