In the hall next to the Throop Art Room is a new painting created in memory of elementary art teacher, Paul Ebert, who passed away on February 19 from a heart attack.
Sydnee Johnson, the Paoli Community Schools social worker helped to organize the creation of the mural, as a way for students to say farewell to Ebert.
The Memory Tree design was created by a local home-schooled student Penelope Bells, niece of Tech Staff Member, Denise England. After Bells finished the tree, England brought students from the art classes each day to add their thumb prints on the wall, creating leaves for the tree. Some high school students and staff members also added their thumb prints to the tree.
“We are all coping with the loss of a dear friend, and the students have enjoyed being a part of this project. I feel it is helping us all heal. I have been telling the students how proud Mr. Ebert would be of their tree,” said Throop Elementary Principal Stephany Carr.
