Across the country, schools and communities celebrate Red Ribbon Week, a week when people focus on saying no to drugs and other harmful substances.
This year, PHS is celebrating Red Ribbon week from October 23-31, and the theme is “Life is a puzzle. Solve it drug-free.”
School nurse Emme Moore is the coordinator of Red Ribbon Week and discusses what they hope students will learn.
“We celebrate Red Ribbon Week in general to show kids how to make good decisions and to be safe, especially when it comes to drugs, alcohol, and other substances,” said Moore.
Students can earn points for the Class Cup Competition. Each grade level will send representatives from their homeroom to play an Escape Room.
“I have some academic level appropriate Escape rooms set up and students will have an opportunity to come to the library and try to beat the escape room,” said Moore.
The competition will take place every day during homeroom in the school library. Each day will be a different grade level’s chance to participate, starting with seventh grade. The Escape room opened today, and it will continue into next week.
