Do you want lunch of your choice during fourth period? Donate to the National Honor Society’s annual food drive, going on now. There will be a competition between all fourth period classes, which ever class donates the most items will receive lunch of their choice from Pizza Hut, Subway or Porky’s.
All donations will benefit the local Food Pantry.
“Food drives are an important part of a small community food pantry. Our local Food Pantry serves hundreds of people and this takes a great deal of resources,” said NHS sponsor Jaye Brewster. “In the past couple of years, our food drives have helped to stock the shelves for the holiday season and have put food on the tables of many needy families. We are proud to make a difference in our community.”
Items that you can donate that the food pantry would be the most grateful for are: boxes of macaroni, canned pork and beans, canned baked beans, canned green beans, canned chili beans, dry beans, canned pasta, dry pasta, boxes of rice and personal hygiene items.
There are many families that will benefit from these donations right here in our community.
“NHS believes it is important to give back to the community because some of our students are those affected by hard times. It is important to use to help feed hungry students and help them enjoy their holidays during this important time of year,” said Brewster.
