With the tentative date of December 3, Tri-Hi-Y will be sponsoring a crocheting event to benefit two different organizations this holiday season. English and theater teacher Maria Wishart will be in charge of this activity.

Tri-Hi-Y started last year and got together a few different dates after school. A mom from Springs Valley will be helping because she lost a son, who was a high school student, in an accident a few years ago. She had taught her son to crochet, and this is something that makes her feel close to him.

Anyone can go make hats to be donated for two different organizations. Knots of Love is for cancer patients taking chemotherapy. Crochet 4 a Cause is for orphaned infants in Africa. Last year eight people made hats.

“We crochet hats using circular looms. It is really pretty easy. You don’t have to know how to crochet,” said Wishart.
