Senior Shelby Rice is a member of the Varsity girls basketball team at PHS. Rice has played basketball for 10 years, starting with her 3rd grade AAU team. Rice has played the center position ever since she began playing basketball
Although Rice is planning on going to college, her senior year will be the last of basketball for her. She does, however, want to come back and see the Lady Rams succeed.
“I will miss my team most this year. We are so close. We feel like more of a family, not just a team. I’m going to be so lost without them next year. I love playing with a team I love and trust.” said Rice.
After high school she is planning to major in pharmaceuticals. Rice plans on fulfilling an internship at Paoli’s CVS pharmacy.
She has deeply thought about going to UK and USI for her studies. Rice is an academically honored student at PHS and strives to achieve the best.
“I am scared and excited; Scared because it is a very tough major, and it’s hard to get into pharmacy school, but excited because it’ll bring me a happy and east life once I finally graduate,” said Rice.
Rice will be greatly missed in the basketball program.
Rice has some advice to the future players:
“To always remember that they were once a freshman and it’s scary to move up. So always be helpful, never hurtful. Also this is your last year. Enjoy every second of it. It goes by so fast.”
