As Ezra Sizemore prepares for his senior graduation at the end of the year, he looks back on one of his favorite activities at school: being in the band.
Sizemore has been in band for four years playing the tuba as a member of the low brass.
“I picked the tuba because I couldn’t play the trumpet,” said Sizemore.
For Sizemore there are both positives and negatives to constantly practicing songs and marches and going to competitions.
“My favorite thing in band is getting to hang out with my friends and getting to meet new people,” said Sizemore. “But I hate it when people are constantly in a bad mood and when they act so hateful.”
Not only is Sizemore a member of the marching and concert bands, he has been a member of the winter guard since 2012.
As Sizemore’s senior year starts to come to an end, he thinks about his plans after graduation. He plans on going to college to become a state police officer.
“I’m going to miss all my friends I’ve made throughout my years in band,” Sizemore said. “Band is really hard to do, but it is worth it. Everyone should try it!”
