Skyler Triplett is a senior in the Pride of Paoli band, and plays the snare drum in the drum line. Triplett started band when we was in fifth grade. When Triplett was in seventh grade, he joined the Pride of Paoli marching band.
“I joined marching band because Cody Deringer was in it and he said it was really fun,” said Triplett.
Triplett has been in concert band for eight years and has been in marching band for six years. One thing that Triplett likes about being in the band is that he gets to hang out with his friends and winning at competitions. But after this year, Triplett’s fun with the band will come to an end.
“I will miss all of my friends and being able to go to so many places. But I will be coming back to be with the band next year so I will be able to see all of my friends in the band again,” said Triplett.
Triplett has marched in many shows, but his favorite one, is ‘The Odyssey’.
“I like ‘The Odyssey’ because we have done great as a drum line,” said Triplett.
It is an honor to go to state at the end of the band season, but in your senior year, that’s even better. This year the Pride of Paoli tried again to bring home the gold, and the rings.
“I was excited because we had a chance at winning State this year,” said Triplett.
One reason why Triplett is excited about winning is that the Pride of Paoli has gotten better and better this season.
“I believe we have done better than usual. We have scored higher in competitions then we have in a while. I also thought that we might have been able to get first place this year too.” Said Triplett.
But since this is Triplett’s last year, he and 14 other seniors had to have a senior talk the day before they left for their final performance of the year.
“I was trying to pump everyone up and be motivating,” said Triplett.
Since the marching band season is over, Triplett and the rest of the band will being doing concert band, Triplett will also perform in Pep Band, where he will be playing the drums and the guitar. He also has been asked before to give lesson to people on how to play either the drums or the guitar.
“I don’t give lessons on a regular basis, but I do it if they ask,” said Triplett.
After high school, Triplett isn’t for sure if he is going to do music once in college.
“If I do, I will be in a rock band!”said Triplett.
