Senior Caitlyn Cornwell started working at the Dillman-Scott funeral home this year on the first day of school, through the agriculture department. At the Dillman-Scott funeral home, Cornwell cleans and helps prepare the bodies.
Cornwell says working at the Dillman-Scott is very difficult.
“It takes such an emotional toll on you,” said Cornwell.
Cornwell says the hardest part of it all is trying to comfort a family member grieving the loss of a loved one.
When asked what the easiest part of the job was, Cornwell says nothing is easy at any funeral home.
“My hours relate to how many funerals are going on from time to time,” said Cornwell.
In the future, Cornwell is thinking of going to school for mortuary, which is a job in the funeral home business. She wanted to volunteer to see if she would like it and so she could see more of what the job is about. Cornwell is not sure if she will be able to handle the mortuary business because there is such a large emotional toll, but she will try her best.
