Baseball Starts Season at North Knox

The Rams will play at 1 p.m. on Saturday April 1.

The Varsity Baseball team will start off their season against the North Knox Warriors on Saturday April 1. 

Last year, the Rams had a record of 4-20 and were fourth in PLAC. The Rams graduated seniors Dexter Brown, Carson Little, and Bladen Patton.

This year the team is made up of seniors Joey Blair, Brandon Cook, Braydon Hayes, William Milner, Treyvin Street, juniors Raygar Minton, Trey Rominger, sophomores Peyton Baker, Hayden Bostock, Coy Busick, Garrett Hickman, Ashton Jones, Jaxson Reynolds, freshman Austin Chastain, Dominic Garcia, Tyler Hannon, Josh Herd, Aidan Hickman, Trey Minton, Dane Padgett and Cooper Spires.

Head Coach Jeremy Payton expresses his goal for this season.

“This season our goal is to win the conference and compete for a Sectional Championship,” said Head Coach Jeremy Payton.

The last time the Rams won a Sectional was in 1995 and the last time the team won a PLAC title was in 2018.

“Our hope is to have a winning season and start creating a foundation for the future,” said Payton.

The Rams have a few key leaders this year.

“Brandon Cook and Trey Rominger are who I hope will lead us this year,” said Payton. “They have experience in playing for us and know what we are wanting to do.”

Junior Trey Rominger mentions a few improvements needed for a successful season.

“Our team needs to work on getting better on fundamentals and making contact with the ball,” said Rominger.

Senior Brandon Cook shares his efforts for this upcoming season.

“I come to practice with a winning mentality this season, I put in the work and throw gas,” said Cook.

The Rams will play at North Knox starting at 1 p.m.
