Paoli FFA held a food drive competition for each homeroom from February 7-21. The time was extended due to the asynchronous learning days caused by the snow during the week of February 17, which was attributed to the week being National FFA Week.
The food and pet items collected during the competition were donated to the Paoli Food Pantry and the Orange County Humane Society. Nearly 800 food items were donated to the food pantry, and over 20 pet items were donated to the humane society.
“The FFA officers wanted to run a type of community service to involve the whole school and thought that it was beneficial to use each homeroom to involve everyone in helping the community,” said FFA Advisor Samantha Goen.
The homeroom that collected the most items was art teacher Chris Jones’s class, which gathered approximately 300 items.
The FFA continues to involve the community, as the annual pig sale is on Saturday, March 9. Another big event towards the end of the school year is the annual plant sale, which will be held the week of May 5, just in time for Mother’s Day.
