The annual junior high Morp dance, which was hosted by the Student Council and held on Friday, May 9, from 6 to 8 p.m., was themed “Get Up and Glow.”
Student Council Sponsor Mariah Buchanan and members of the Student Council worked hard in the weeks leading up to the event to transform the Cafeteria into the theme. Members decorated the cafeteria with glowing black lights and bright neon decorations.
Students in the seventh and eighth grades were invited to attend by paying $10 to receive a ticket to the dance. Students must have purchased their ticket to walk through the doors. Students were provided cupcakes, gummy worms, soda, and water.
This year’s Royal Court was selected randomly based on the ticket numbers drawn, and Student Council members presented them with their sashes. This year’s Morp King was eighth grader
Bryson Burkhead, and the Queen Neveah Gilmore. For the seventh grade, the Morp Prince was Jaden East, and the Morp Princess was Emma Bradley.
“It was very unexpected, I didn’t expect to win,” said Gilmore.
Students were asked to stay after and help clean up when the dance ended.
