At the beginning of the 2025-26 school year, Sara Parks was hired to teach the new Principles of Business class for the Lost River Career Co-Op. Parks also serves as the Work-Based Learning Coordinator for LRCC, working with students in Paoli, Springs Valley, and West Washington.
Parks had to take courses to get her Business Teaching license through Ball State University. She also started taking courses in a mentorship program to become a Career Advisor. She started all of her classes in August of 2024 and finished in May 2025.
Before accepting the position as business teacher, she had held multiple positions within the school system. Her first position at the school was registrar for the High School Guidance Department. This is her first teaching job, but she is excited for the opportunity.
“I am so glad to be back in the building. I was scared! Change is not always easy, but I miss all of my PHS family,” said Parks.
She has high hopes for this school year and for the future, both for this class and for her role as a teacher within the school corporation. She hopes that her students can progress in their learning by using her class as a starting point. As she progresses on this new journey, she hopes to continue learning and growing alongside the students, as there is always more to learn.
