The PHS Drama Club is in the process of picking out and preparing for their first play. Members of the Drama Board and other students have met with Director Maria Wishart to work on a plan for their fall season.
“We have met once with my officers and put some things on the table, and then twice after school with Drama Club participants who’ve read through online previews that we can see the first three scenes of a play and get familiar with the synopsis and the characters,” said Drama Director Maria Wishart.
The group has narrowed it down to six shows; they intend for the production to be in November after the marching band season has concluded.
“We have a lot of marching band kids. After they have completed the marching band season, it becomes a little bit less stressful, and it gives us more time for prep work at the beginning of the year,” said Wishart.
This fall, the show will be a straight play, which is a production with mostly dialogue. In February, the Drama Club is planning to put on a musical, which consists mostly of singing and dancing. Anyone could audition for either show, even if they are not a member of the club.
“If you’re not in Drama Club, but you decide you wanna audition, you just come and show up at auditions and then go from there, see who gets what parts. It is a commitment,” said Wishart.
