The Clarksville Firehouse field trip for the fire science classes is scheduled for early October and will be led by Jason Parks. The trip is delayed this year due to the training the Clarksville firefighters are participating in.
The field trip will consist of many things, including checking out the gear, completing the workout routines, learning about the alternating shifts, which have their own fridges for each shift, ensuring nothing is taken from each others, learning about river rescues, going up the rig ladder, which is over 100 feet in the air and gives students a view of the city, learning in the classroom, and a few of their personal rules at the firehouse.
This field trip is taking place for the students in Parks’s fire safety classes to learn more about what they might need as firefighters. This ensures that students not only learn about the career but also gain hands-on experience, learning the ins and outs of the profession.
“It’s a great opportunity for the kids to learn and prepare for their futures in the field,” said Parks.
Any students interested in learning more about the first science program should contact Parks or any fire science student.
