On Friday, September 26, the Student Council sponsored the Football Homecoming. The crowning was held before the game against Eastern Green.
Selected as Homecoming Royalty were King Dane Padgett and Queen Abby Poe.
The two were crowned by Student Council members senior Tori Patton and junior Copper Lane. Helping crown the royals were Kapri Santa, son of Jordan and Kiaya Santa, and Sloane Dillard, daughter of Brandy and Jedd Dillard.
“It’s an honor to be named by my peers as Homecoming King,” said Padgett.
Poe had a similar reaction to being selected.
“It was really exciting and I was glad I was able to experience that because it was a once-in-a-lifetime thing,” said Poe.
Earlier this month, students voted to nominate Prince and Princesses for grades 9-11, as well as the King and Queen candidates. The nominees for this year’s Homecoming include freshmen Derrick Albertson and Gracie Hall, sophomores Emmett Shellenberger and Sofia Smith, and juniors Trey Robbins and Cheyenne Hopper.
The other seniors nominated for royalty were Queen candidates Madison Collier, Cherokee Hopper, Taylor Morgan, and Gracielynn McKibbon. The King candidates were Charlie Higgins, Tyler Hannon, Dom Garcia, and Dakota Mousty.
