At the beginning of this January, PHS will be seeing significant changes to the administrative team. These changes are because Superintendent Greg Walker is retiring. Current Principal Ed Wagner will be filling the role of superintendent beginning in January. With Wagner becoming superintendent, the principal role will be filled by current Assistant Principal Adam Stroud.
Wagner and Stroud are currently working towards hiring a new Assistant Principal, and it is unknown who will take over for Stroud.
When Walker decided he was going to retire, he was confident that he was leaving PHS in good hands.
“Mr. Wagner is a highly motivated person who will do well in his new role,” said Walker.
The decision to move Stroud to the principal position happened over the summer when the School Board voted to give him the promotion.
In preparation for his new position, Stroud has been training with Wagner so that he can fill the role and accomplish the things he strives to.
“Mr. Wagner and I spoke about that over the summer. Everything is moving right along and has already been planned out to accomplish the steps that we wanted,” said Stroud.
Moving forward, Wagner is confident in Stroud’s abilities and future as principal.
“Mr. Stroud is a hard worker, detail-oriented, and a terrific leader. His dedication, competitive drive, and ability to connect with people have been a huge part of our school’s success. Over the past four years, he has been my right-hand man, and I have trusted him completely with important decision-making and the safety and well-being of our students and staff. His vision for education and his leadership style align closely with mine, and I know our school will continue to move forward under his direction,” said Wagner.
While Wagner is excited for both him and Stroud moving forward, it is a bittersweet change.
“I love this school deeply, and while I’m honored to step into the superintendent’s role, watching Mr. Stroud take over as principal feels a lot like when I was a football coach and one of my assistants earned his first head coaching job. It’s hard to step away, but I couldn’t be prouder of Mr. Stroud. He’s earned this moment, and I truly believe he will do great things here at PHS,” said Wagner.
