Once again, the Pride of Paoli marching band is putting together a show, this year titled “The Tie That Binds.”
The show features two songs: “Blest Be The Tie That Binds” by John Fawcett, which explores how love is used to bind and unite people, and an original composition by Don Barrett. The show has four movements: Fellowship, Our Hopes Are One, Kindred Minds, and To Meet Again.

The band is led by Drum Majors senior Cannon Lambdin and sophomore Vanessa Thacker, under the direction of Christian Karkosky.
This season, the show features multiple students in solo roles, including junior Nathaniel Dixon on trumpet, sophomore Shelby Walls on flute, freshman Marshall Fahey on baritone, and junior Ava Middleton in color guard.
The Pride competed in their first competition on September 6 at Westfield. They placed 3rd in their class.
“I think the band performed amazingly at Westfield. We have a very enthusiastic group this year with the discipline and talent it takes to bring their absolute best to each performance, and I can’t wait to see it play out as the season continues,” said Lambdin.
Their most recent competition was on September 20, at Greenwood. They were able to perform, but the event was canceled due to rain, so no placings were awarded.
“I was really proud of the band for pushing through the elements and showing lots of resiliency. It shows how well-trained the band is that they were able to ignore the obstacles and still give an excellent performance,” said Director Chris Karkosky.
The Pride of Paoli will next compete tomorrow, October 4, at 8:45 p.m. at Springs Valley.
